Snow Expected in Parts of Tri-State Today
Date: 12/7/2011 9:27:22 AM Sender: MSN
Rain and wind are pounding the tri-state Wednesday and some parts of the area in higher elevations are expected to see snow.

Higher elevations of northwest New Jersey and the Hudson Valley could see 3 to 6 inches of sloppy snow Wednesday evening, and down in the lower elevations residents could see 1 to 3 inches.

Only a coating is expected throughout most of the northwest suburbs, and New York City isn't likely to get any snow with this storm. The city will see pockets of heavier rain, though, especially in the evening through the early overnight hours.

Highs are likely to be in the 50s throughout the day, with lows in the 30s at night.

Several counties are under a winter weather advisories, including Warren, Sussex, Sullivan and Ulster.

The evening rush hour could get messy with wet roads and heavy rain, and slippery driving could be a problem Thursday morning in the northwest suburbs.

The storm will be gone by Thursday morning, and there will be breezy and chilly weather behind it. Highs are expected to be in the 40s on Friday.
