Pakistani officials say a car bomb has exploded at a gas station in Punjab province, killing at least 20 people.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for Tuesday＇s blast in the eastern city of Faisalabad that also wounded more than 125 people.  

A Taliban spokesman said the group was targeting a "sensitive organization" that had offices nearby in retaliation for the killing of one of their commanders in the city.

The bomb, which was planted in a car, ignited gas cylinders at the station, triggering a bigger blast that damaged several government buildings.       

Piles of bricks from the destroyed building and scraps of metal from damaged cars littered the scene as rescued workers pulled victims from the rubble.

Meanwhile, in northwest Pakistan, security officials say a U.S. missile strike killed five suspected militants Tuesday in the South Waziristan tribal region near the Afghan border.
